About the cars

November 22, 2017 //  by Global Rally//  Leave a Comment

All of the cars driven on the rallies are owned by the drivers, and shipped either by air or sea to the start point.  There are no hire cars on our trips.   The majority of the cars are pre 1970 (with the exception of the support vehicles).    Obviously the list of cars varies from rally to rally depending on who is joining us on the trip.    Suffice to say that some of the most iconic cars ever made have joined us over the years.

Aston Martins, Austin Healeys, Bentleys, Ferraris, Jaguars, Mercedes, Porsches, Rolls Royces, are staples on our trips, along with the obligatory Land Rovers!

Those that have joined us on all the rallies will have done over 100,000 miles over the years, which is quite a feat.

And obviously not every car comes on every rally with us.    This page will feature the cars that are signed up to join us on the next rally to Vietnam so as we add biographies of each car joining us we will add links to their pages below.   Each car is given a number, based on its age so car number one is the oldest, car 15 is the youngest and 16, 17 and 18 are our trusty support vehicles.

Who are the GRO?

We are a non-profit making organisation created for people who relish a challenge and an interest in classic cars. Combining these two things allows our members to explore the world.
The charge for all rallies will be “at cost”, save for a pre-stated administration fee for organising the event and the shared cost of the service / medical crew. We are able to do this as we will also be participating in the adventure and the countries are ones we wish to visit.
