Here is a little history of the red car with a white stripe, car number four on this year’s rally:
Stuart bought the Healey in October 1998, ex California and newly restored- he spent the next 20 years undoing many of the odd things done to the car and bringing it up to full rally specification and then and adding his own alterations.
Its first trip abroad was in 1999 all the way to the Ardennes! But its first serious trip was London to Sydney in 2005 where it suffered a gearbox failure but made it to Sydney. Since then it has completed a host of continental trips and completed the Panama to Alaska rally and the Rallye Med.
Stuart goes on to say:
Probably the silliest car to choose for long distance rallies its proved its worth, fun to drive and an ability to set off car alarms the world over.
