Well obviously there is no car 13 on our rally, so we are skipping on to car number 14 today: Lily Marlene the Mercedes 280SL owned by Jean and Anne. Lily Marlene travelled from mainland Europe, in the exclusive company of Gerry’s Jaguar, but has now been introduced to the other cars on the dockside in Da Nang.
Anne says “Lily Marlene is a small, elegant and beautiful German Mercedes 280SL ‘Pagoda’ cabriolet, newly, femininely, baptised to distinguish her from our very good friend Tony’s huge, scary, macho ‘Hermann’ the German”.
She was bought in 2014 and restored for a 3 week Enduro TransAmerican rally in 2015. She earned a 3rd place podium finish in her class, no less!
Lily Marlene is already a Global Rally participant having taken part in the Pan-American in 2016 from New Orleans to Boston.
Lily Marlene is now fully ready to go in South East Asia on another Friendship adventure.
