Simply known as The Aston, this particular car is owned by Robin and Charlotte and is the only car to have completed every one of the Global Rallies, and is car number 12.
Robin says:
“I purchased the 1970 DB6 mk2 in 2001 with the intention of using it to drive. However, never in my wildest dreams did I believe then that by 2017 we would have driven 125,000 miles in her and take her all over the world.
Underneath the car is well prepared with a big sump guard, strengthened chassis and suspension, plus the car sits one inch higher than standard. However, I have tried to keep her looking like an original gentleman’s tourer, not a rally car.
Charlotte and I know the car very well now and are very happy and at ease every time we get into her. She is very comfortable to be in and with power steering, good brakes and automatic transmission, can be easy and relaxing. That said, we tend to use the stick on the gearbox manually almost all of the time and when you are on the mountain roads or great curves she is a lot of fun to drive.
After the 2008 Panama to Alaska rally, we and Roger Carey (with the other Aston Martin on that rally) were jointly awarded the Victor Gauntlett Trophy by the Aston Martin Owners’ Club”

Saw your cars in Siem Reap today – blew my mind to see the Jags – when I was 6 (1956) our favourite uncle had an XK 150 which he used at hillclimbs in South Africa. Loved the Aston and the Austin Healey too.
Took lots of pics and immediately emailed them to my brother in Johannesburg – he’s a petrolhead too, races classic cars, and belongs to the Citroen Club in South Africa.
Best of luck with the rest of your trip.

Thank you for then finding us online Derek. Paul our incredible mechanic and his girlfriend Jo (plus their support car Pooh Bear) live in South Africa so clearly there are a lot of petrolheads over there!
