Let the games begin!

February 3, 2018 //  by Global Rally//  Leave a Comment

Our update today features a mix of car preparation photos, and also crew preparations as the weather has turned unseasonably chilly out in Vietnam so a trip to the market was called for in order to get some warmer jumpers.   Not that any of us need an excuse to visit a local market!

So after a comfortable night in the hotel it was back to the preparations

The games have begun with hidden duplicate keys being hunted down by Andy with determination, but alas…….Pooh Bear hides his keys very well?  And I am not sure I have ever seen anybody lying on a red carpet before!

Registration is underway at the hotel to welcome the Rally Members to the 2018 S.E.A. Friendship Rally

One of the  major problems we all face is where to put all the luggage we arrive with.  Everything we need for five weeks into cars that are not known for their boot space!  Somehow though it always fits.   Well, eventually.

This shot of a young lady giggling was taken by Sheila who explains:

Many Vietnamese women working in tourist & service industry still wear the gorgeous ao dai outfit – a traditional clothing for women consisting of a snug fitting silk tunic over trousers. Very elegant.

And some more photos from Hoi An and the market places.

Nothing to see here, just a dog in an anorak.

And of course, street food.  There is going to be a lot of this on this trip as this part of the world is famous for it.   That Vietnamese Pizza sounds amazing, doesn’t it?

Who are the GRO?

We are a non-profit making organisation created for people who relish a challenge and an interest in classic cars. Combining these two things allows our members to explore the world.
The charge for all rallies will be “at cost”, save for a pre-stated administration fee for organising the event and the shared cost of the service / medical crew. We are able to do this as we will also be participating in the adventure and the countries are ones we wish to visit.
